This Sunday’s schedule is going to be changed quite a bit, so you might want to take some notes…

This Sunday we will be serving at the Lazarus Table at Grand Avenue Temple United Methodist Church (8th and Grand) in downtown Kansas City, Missouri. Grand Avenue Temple is a United Methodist church that identifies the heart of its ministry with serving the poor and homeless of Kansas City, Missouri. Lazarus Table is the main ministry that supports this church’s call to social justice ministry. Lazarus Table provides an opportunity for the poor and homeless of Kansas City to get some food and clothing to help sustain their life’s journey.

We will be gathering at 8:15 a.m. THIS SUNDAY so that we can leave at 8:30 a.m. We will return to church around 11:30 a.m. It is crucial that we leave on time because we must be at Grand Avenue for on-the-job-training and group orientation with Reverend Brooks. We are needing between 6 to 8 folks to help serve. Please let Adam know by Thursday via email (pickupyourcross@gmail.com) if you would like to help. This is a great opportunity to reach out into the community and show God’s love to those who may not have ever experienced it before.

We will meet again at our normal 5:00 p.m. time for the Sunday Night Youth Gathering. Keep your eyes peeled later this week for information about what we’re going to be doing…it’s gonna be a blast (and nothing that we’ve done before)!

Also, rememeber that we’re seeling PINK FLAMINGO INSURANCE. We haven’t had any takers yet…which means that Pastor Andy lawn is going to look bare - that’s very sad. ;-)

This Week’s Events

April 28, 2008

Hey folks! Like most weeks, we’re sticking to our regular weekly schedule. Thanks to all who came to last night’s Youth Gathering at Jacob’s Well. We had a great time worshipping with another community and listening to Brian McLaren preach. It was fantastic! If you want to share your experience at JW use the comments section below.

On another note: FUNDRAISER REMINDER!!! This Sunday, May 4th we will be having a Quatro de Mayo Taco Bar following worship. Please come for our regular Sunday morning time (instead of our Sunday Morning Faith Discussion we’ll be setting up and cooking) and be ready to have some fun in the kitchen. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact Adam at pickupyourcross@gmail.com.

Also, the Youth Leadership Team is still putting together this summer’s schedule. So, if you’ve got some ideas SPEAK UP!

Hey all! We’re sticking to our regular schedule (check out the tab at the top of the page).

Here’s a helpful opportunity: This Saturday (April 19) from 7-9:30 p.m. a new adult Sunday School class will be gathering, and they need help with childcare. So, here’s the deal –> we help provide childcare form 7-9 p.m. at the Bryan’s house (the church parsonage), and the new class (Love & Logic Parenting) will do something for usnot sure yet, but I’ve been promised that it’ll be good (we’re negotiating). If you’re interested in helping please let me know, via email, by Wednesday. It’s a great opportunity to help some folks help other folks - and we get to play with kids for a couple of hours! If you have any questions, email me those, too.

On a side note: I had a great time in Puerto Rico, but missed you all terribly. It’s good to be back home!

Here’s two week’s worth of updates.

We’ll be sticking to our regular weekly schedule (check out the page that says “Our Weekly Schedule” - it’s up at the top^). Even though Adam will be gone on the 6th and 13th (he’ll be back for the Sunday Night Youth Gathering on the 13th) we will still be doing our normal stuff. So come, bring a friend, and have some fun!

Youth Mission Stock Sales have ended, and we’ve done pretty good - around $1100 - that’s almost a third of what we need for the trip! Next up…Flamingo Insurance!

Wednesday, March 26: W.O.W. (Welcome on Wednesday) schedule back in full swing - come at 5:30 p.m. and bring a couple of bucks for dinner and then hang around for Bible study, choir practice, or just hang around until 7:30 p.m.!

Saturday, March 29: Saturday “Come -As-You-Are” worship gathering at 5:30 p.m. in the church basement.

Sunday, March 30: Sunday Morning Faith Discussion at 9:10 a.m. - we’re going to talk about what it means to look at people from different points of view (check out 2nd Corinthians 5:16-21 if you want a head-start on the discussion) Community Worship Gathering at 10:30 a.m., and the  Sunday Night Gathering from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. - we’re actually going to seriously talk about redoing the youth room and then we’ll cut loose and play some games (outside if the weather’s nice!)

This week’s a little wierd with spring break and Holy Week, so take special notes…

Tomorrow night (Tuesday the 18th) we’re gonna meet at the church to go roller skating at River Roll Skate Center in Riverside. We’ll leave at 6:15 p.m. and skate from 6:30 to 7:30. After roller skating we’ll go and get some yummy ice cream from Sheridan’s up at Berry Road. So make sure that you’ve got $4 for skating and extra $$$ for ice cream afterwards.

Wednesday night we’ll meet from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. to fill up more Easter eggs for Sunday morning’s egg hunt. There’ll be pizza, so bring your appetites!

Remember that Thursday night there’s a Maundy Thursday service with the Christian Church (DOC) at the Christian Church and the Good Friday service at our church.

Sunday is EASTER! And we’re leading the Easter Sunrise Service. Please be at the church around 6:30 a.m. - the service starts at 7:05 a.m. with a potluck breakfast following. Please make sure to bring food for the breakfast - if you don’t bring food, we may not eat!

And, finally, there is no Sunday Night Gathering on Easter.

Okay - I’ve checked, double-checked, and triple-checked my sources of information. So I promise that this week’s info is correct! We’re following the regular weekly schedule (posted over there —->).

This Saturday (March 8th) WE WILL BE working on the Snake Saturday float from NOON to 2:00 p.m. Meet at the the church at 11:30 a.m. and we’ll carpool to the garage on 16th and Howell (the temporary home of the float)

This Sunday (March 9th) we will be having our Youth/Parent Summer Mission Trip meeting, starting at 5:00 p.m. in the youth room. We’ll be discussing this summer’s location, the date of the trip, cost, and future fundraising opportunities…and anything else mission trip-related that you want to know.

There’s a whole bunch of stuff going on at Northtown! We’re sticking to our regular weekly schedule (over there —>). Reminder: There is no Bible study for W.O.W. (Weclome On Wednesday) through 5th. We’ll resume our regular W.O.W. times on March 12th.

This Saturday we’ll be helping with the float construction for Snake Saturday. Meet at the church at 7:30 a.m. (I know, it’s early - but it’s SOOOOOO worth it). We’ll chow down on some donuts from Ray’s and then caravan to the garage up on 16th street (that’s the temporary home for the float).

MISSION TRIP UPDATE: Put it on your calendars NOW - there will be an informational youth/parent meeting on Sunday, March 16th from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

If you have any questions about anything, contact Adam at 816.842.3944, ext. 204 or at pickupyourcross@gmail.com

Hey, everyone! We’re sticking to our regular schedule this week. Check it out over there —–> Just remember that this month we’re just hangin’ out during W.O.W. instead of having Bible study. Feel free to bring some homework, or board games, or anything else that might assist in our having-funness time. (I don’t really know if “having-funness” is a word, but it sounds pretty cool!)

Also remember that we’re smack dab in the middle of Youth Mission Stock Sales fundraiser for our summer mission trip…which is tba. So, talk to your friends, family and church folks about donating funds for this summer’s project. Our goal is $3300.
