From Webster’s Dictionary: grace  is “d: disposition to or an act or instance of kindness, courtesy, or clemency” - man, did I hit the jackpot last week for passing along messed up info. I apologize for making folks get up so early to work on the Snake Saturday float - we did have a good time helping make breakfast for the United Methodist Men’s group…right? Also, the youth/parent mission trip meeting is THIS SUNDAY (MARCH 9) starting at 5 p.m. up in the youth room…not Sunday, March 16th as previously mentioned.

 So, (re)mark your calendars for the youth mission trip youth/parent meeting: SUNDAY, MARCH 9, 2008 at 5:00 p.m.

There’s a whole bunch of stuff going on at Northtown! We’re sticking to our regular weekly schedule (over there —>). Reminder: There is no Bible study for W.O.W. (Weclome On Wednesday) through 5th. We’ll resume our regular W.O.W. times on March 12th.

 This Saturday we’ll be helping with the float construction for Snake Saturday. Meet at the church at 7:30 a.m. (I know, it’s early - but it’s SOOOOOO worth it). We’ll chow down on some donuts from Ray’s and then caravan to the garage up on 16th street (that’s the temporary home for the float).

 MISSION TRIP UPDATE: Put it on your calendars NOW - there will be an informational youth/parent meeting on Sunday, March 16th from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Hey, everyone! We’re sticking to our regular schedule this week. Check it out over there —–> Just remember that this month we’re just hangin’ out during W.O.W. instead of having Bible study. Feel free to bring some homework, or board games, or anything else that might assist in our having-funness time. (I don’t really know if “having-funness” is a word, but it sounds pretty cool!)

 Also remember that we’re smack dab in the middle of Youth Mission Stock Sales fundraiser for our summer mission trip…which is tba. So, talk to your friends, family and church folks about donating funds for this summer’s project. Our goal is $3300.

Wednesday, Feb 6: Our regular W.O.W. activities have been rescheduled so that you can particiapte in the Ash Wednesday service at 7:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary.

Saturday, Feb 9: “Come As You Are” worship at 5:30 p.m.

Sunday, Feb 10: 9:00 a.m. Faith Discussion: we’ll be talking about the role of forgiveness in our lives, 10:30 a.m. Community Worship, & 5:00 p.m. Sunday Night Gathering: we’re going to be playin’ some games, snackin’ on some food and talkin’ about the “L” word…love…and what it has to do with this summer’s mission trip.

That’s right. You heard it here first. We’re having a Superbowl party this Sunday evening, February 2. We’ll start at our normal Sunday night schedule time - 5:00 p.m. And we’ll go until the game is over. If you’ve ever wanted to watch the Superbowl on a 200” screen, then come hang out with us this Sunday night, eat some great Superbowl food, and watch what is sure to be one of the greatest Superbowl games ever!

Whew! Sorry for the delay on posting for this week. I’m just now recovered from the AWESOME weekend we had in Springfield, MO at W.O.W. 2008. If you’ve got pictures from the weekend - send ‘em - and we can share. And as soon as I figure out how to post pics on this blog (I’m used to another blogger format), I’ll get those up. If you’ve got some experiences that you want to share, just leave a comment below.

Wednesday, Jan 23: W.O.W. (Welcome On Wednesday) activities as normal - bring a couple of bucks for dinner at 5:30 p.m. and then come up to the youth room at 6:30 p.m. for our weekly Bible study. This week we’re going to look at when Jesus fed over 5,000 people and what this might mean for us. Come join us this Wednesday!

Saturday, Jan 26: WE’RE GOING TO SPRINGFIELD, MO FOR W.O.W. 2008 (Winter Outreach Weekend)!!! Be at the church READY TO LEAVE at 7:30 a.m. We’ll be at the Springfield Expo Center with over 2,000 youth from youth groups across Missouri! This is going to be an awesome weekend! For those of you not going to W.O.W. 2008 this weekend, don’t forget our great Saturday night worship at 5:30 p.m.

Sunday, Jan 27: There will not be a 5:00 Gathering this Sunday because we’ll still be at W.O.W. 2008. We’ll return to our regular Sunday schedule next week - so keep your eyes peeled!

Wednesday, Jan 16: W.O.W. (Welcome on Wednesday) activities as normal. Bring a couple of bucks for dinner at 5:30 p.m. This week’s Bible study will look at when Jesus washed his friend’s feet and what it means to have a servant’s heart. Come up to the youth room at 6:30 to join us!

Saturday, Jan 19: Saturday night “Come As You Are” worship at 5:30 p.m.

 Sunday, Jan 20: Regular Sunday schedule - 9 a.m. Faith Discussion: we’ll be talking about our gifts and how we use them. 10:30 a.m. Community Worship and 5:00 p.m. Sunday Night Gathering: we’re going to work on plans for North Kansas City’s Snake Saturday Parade (March 15, 200 and look at some designs for new Crosswalk shirts. So bring your ideas and be ready to have some fun!

Wednesday, Jan 9: W.O.W. (Welcome On Wednesdays) RETURNS! Bring a couple of bucks for dinner at 5:30. We’ll be starting a 4-week study on events from the life of Jesus. If you’ve got a Bible, bring it - if you don’t have one, don’t worry, we’ve got extras. We’ll meet up in the youth room from 6:30 to 7:30-ish.

Saturday, Jan 12: (1) There’s a team planning retreat at church. If you’re interested in being a part of a group that plans community worship, or integrating the “arts” (dance, music, video, etc.) in church life, or even you like to help other people understand what it means to be a Christian, then come to the church (2100 Howell Street, NKC) at 11:30 a.m. - THERE WILL BE FOOD (2) Come As You Are Worship at 5:30 p.m. in the church basement.

Sunday, Jan 13: 9:00 a.m. Faith Discussion - we’ll be talking about baptism and why (or why not) its important. 10:30 a.m. Community Worship in the sanctuary. 5:00 p.m. Sunday Night Gathering - Faith & Film Night! Movie to be announced, but be assured it will be good! We’ll also have a some movie-type snacks to much on!

W.O.W. (Winter Outreach Weekend) 2008 is just around the corner! The cost is $65/youth. We’ll be leaving at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 27th and returning around 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 28th. Your registration (permission and health forms and $65) is due at January 6th’s Sunday night Gathering.
